When Aubrey's top secret espionage unit is sent to Gallia to investigate mysterious magical emanations, what they discover is intelligence gold. Holmland is about to unleash an unstoppable horror upon the world. It could win the war within weeks. Praise for Laws Of Magic 5: Moment Of Truth

Notable Book for Older Readers 2010

Children’s Book Council of Australia

This is book 5 in Michael Pryor's incredibly addictive The Laws of Magic series … Think barely-post-Victorian, devious political plots, an evil 'wizard' and countries in danger - this is the daily life of Aubrey, George and Caroline ... It's hard to explain how exciting these books are without giving away any spoilers. The dialogue is fast and witty, there's no unnecessary fillers and it's hard to put the book down until the last page is read ... They're truly a seriously great read.

The Laws of Magic are a steampunk junkie's delight.

Fans won’t be disappointed as Pryor’s storytelling continues to deliver. Yes there is magic between the covers of this book.

The Reading Stack

Political intrigue and adventure abound in this tale of high adventure with plenty of wit and a touch of romance. Plots are foiled and new elements of the overarching thread that binds the series together are revealed. Pryor effectively uses language and historical detail to evoke his time and setting … Technology is also very important to the atmosphere of Moment of Truth, which will appeal to lovers of steampunk. Gleaming airships, bustling factories, brass cylinders and strange concrete follies all play an important role in this swashbuckling tale ... Many readers will enjoy it for its intelligence, humour and first class storytelling.

Alison Spicer-Wensley, Fiction Focus

Like its predecessors it is a clever blend of wry humour, action and intrigue. With parallels with real-world history, likeable characters and an absorbing plot, this is fantasy as it should be done ... Great stuff for teens and adults.
